Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Threads Monitor Bot (“the App”, “we”) collects, uses, and stores information when you use our Telegram bot that searches and monitors public Threads posts via the official Meta Threads API.
1. What the App does
The App helps users monitor conversations on Threads by keyword or phrase. Users can run one-off searches and subscribe to recurring checks that send Telegram notifications when new matching posts appear.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the App, we may process:
- Telegram data: Telegram user ID, chat ID, and messages you send to the bot (commands and search phrases).
- Search and monitoring data: keyword/phrase pool items, poll interval settings, and identifiers of posts already seen or notified (to avoid duplicate alerts).
-
Threads / Meta platform data: data returned by the
Threads API for keyword search, such as post ID, text, username,
permalink, timestamp, and related public post metadata. Access is granted
through Meta OAuth / access tokens with permissions such as
threads_basicandthreads_keyword_search. - Threads authorization data: Threads user ID, username, token expiry, a Telegram-chat binding, and the long-lived access token encrypted at rest. Short-lived tokens and authorization codes are used only to complete OAuth and are not intentionally retained.
- Technical logs: application logs needed to operate and debug the service (for example API errors), which may include chat IDs or phrase text.
We do not intentionally collect payment card data or government IDs.
3. How we use information
- To perform keyword / topic searches on Threads on your behalf.
- To send Telegram notifications about new matching posts.
- To remember your monitoring preferences and avoid duplicate alerts.
- To maintain security (for example allowlists of Telegram user IDs).
- To improve reliability and fix errors.
We use Threads platform data only for the purposes allowed by Meta’s
Platform Terms and the approved use of threads_keyword_search
(helping users manage social media presence by finding and reviewing
keyword-related public content).
4. Legal basis / consent
You choose to use the App and grant required Telegram and Meta/Threads permissions. You can stop using the App and request deletion of your data at any time (see Data Deletion Instructions).
5. Sharing of information
We do not sell personal data. We may share data only with:
- Meta / Threads — when calling the official Threads API with your authorized access token.
- Telegram — to deliver bot messages and notifications.
- Service providers strictly necessary to host the App (for example a VPS or cloud host), under confidentiality obligations.
- Authorities if required by applicable law.
6. Storage and retention
Data is stored in a local application database (SQLite) on the server that runs the bot. We retain monitoring phrases, chat settings, and seen-post identifiers while your monitoring remains active or until you request deletion. Logs are kept only as long as needed for operations and troubleshooting, then discarded or rotated.
7. Security
Threads access tokens are encrypted before storage in SQLite. The encryption key and Meta app secret are supplied through protected server environment configuration and are not stored in the public repository. OAuth links use a short-lived, one-time random state; callback query strings are excluded from application access logs. Access to the bot and account connection commands is restricted to allowlisted Telegram user IDs. No security measure is perfect; please contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request:
- Access to the data we hold about your use of the App
- Correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion of your data (see Data Deletion Instructions)
- Withdrawal of Meta/Threads authorization via Meta account settings
9. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. International transfers
Depending on where the bot is hosted and where Meta/Telegram process data, information may be processed in countries other than your own. Those services apply their own privacy terms.
11. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
